Pranassage® is a blend of yoga and bodywork that induces yoga nidra (yogi’s sleep), a profoundly relaxed state of awareness that is said to offer some of the restorative benefits of a good night’s sleep.
The “magic” of Pranassage comes from the manipulation of Prana, the body’s intelligent life force. Prana is the energy behind your heartbeat, the pulses of your nervous system, and the flow of your breath. Through touch, pressure, and traditional yoga postures, Pranassage offers a unique opportunity to tap into this energy, to resynchronize the mind and body, and to fully experience the present moment.
Your only role in your Pranassage session is to let go and enjoy the experience of being in your own body, but you may also experience other health benefits. A typical session lasts 90 minutes. Wear loose fitting and stretchy clothing to facilitate the flow of movement. Long pants are encouraged to avoid pinching the skin.
I was certified to offer Pranassage at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica under the instruction of Amba and Don Stapleton and Ann Hunt. I occasionally offer Pranassage workshops, so check my events page if you’re interested in a partner experience.
